FC Bayern has just announced that a deal has been concluded for the transfer of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer on July 1. The new number one keeper is going to sign a 5-year contract that will make him remain with the club until 2016.
The team now has a solid slate of keepers, with Neuer as the expected number one, and veteran Hans-Jörg Butt as his backup.
This solves the problem left when Oliver Kahn retired. FCB now has the kind of keeper it needs to sometimes steal a game. This is an important asset, especially in the Champions League. The fear factor of a great keeper also makes it hard to face the team, psychologically.
For Neuer, this is a chance to collect trophies and shine even more internationally.
It sounds like a great fit!
