Nils Petersen, a prolific German striker with Energie Cottbus, should join FC Bayern next season, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung, the München-based newspaper that’s on a bit of a roll with football news.
According to the SZ, Petersen will sign a 3-year contract with FCB and the terms should be made official next week. His contract has an exit clause tied to a 2.5 million euros transfer fee, which is basically what the club pays for lunch on any given day.
Petersen is only 22 years old but he leads the 2. Bundesliga with 24 goals. He has already played in the Bundesliga, with Arminia Bielefeld.
His role with the club would be unclear, but FCB definitely wants to have new strikers. Klose may not stay and Olic’s form is dubious. Thomas Müller is great as a striker, but an injury to him or Gomez would make the lineup fragile.
